Tough Outing for the Mets in Seattle 😔

Hey Mets fans, buckle up because this was a rough one. The Mets faced off against the Mariners and, unfortunately, it wasn’t our night. The Mariners came out on top with a decisive 12-1 victory. Let's break down what happened.

Early Innings: Missed Opportunities and a Glimmer of Hope

In the top of the 1st inning, we couldn’t get any traction. Francisco Lindor flied out to left, Brandon Nimmo flied out to center, and J.D. Martinez struck out swinging. On the flip side, our defense held strong and didn't allow any runs from the Mariners either.

In the 2nd inning, Pete Alonso walked and Jeff McNeil got hit by a pitch to set things up, but our momentum didn’t last. Jose Iglesias and Ben Gamel couldn’t drive them home. The Mariners then managed to get on the board with a solo homer from Jorge Polanco.

Middle Innings: Mariners Take Control

The 3rd inning saw Luis Torrens get struck out and Lindor managed a double. But once again, J.D. Martinez and Jesse Winker couldn’t capitalize on runners on base.

By the 5th inning, everything started slipping away. Dominic Canzone hit a ground rule double and Randy Arozarena singled to bring in a run. Then, Cal Raleigh hit a two-run homer, driving the Mariners to a 4-0 lead.

Our brief glimmer of hope came when Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer in the 6th inning, making it 4-1. But the Mariners responded with a cascade of runs, including another homer by Cal Raleigh.

Late Innings: Game Out of Reach

In the 6th and 7th innings, our bullpen struggled. The Mariners continued to pile on runs, and we simply couldn't catch a break. Arozarena and Rivas kept the momentum for the Mariners and bats fell silent.

By the time the 9th inning rolled around, the Mariners had a commanding 12-1 lead. Ben Gamel did manage to draw a walk, but pinch hitter Tyrone Taylor struck out looking to end the game.

Looking Ahead

It was a tough game for our Mets, but we have to stay positive. Let’s take this as a learning experience and bounce back in the next one! Let’s go Mets! 💪⚾

Thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin, Mets Nation!
