Tough Day at the Ballpark

Well, Cardinals fans, it was one of those days 😕. We couldn't seem to get the bats going against the Mets, and ultimately fell 2-0. The energy was there, but the execution was just not on our side. Watching the heart of our lineup like Nolan Arenado, Lars Nootbaar, and Alec Burleson go out without making much noise was tough. We managed to get some runners on base in the 9th stirring a glimmer of hope, but it wasn't enough to pull off a turnaround.

Pitching Battle

Our pitching staff did their best to keep us in this game. Mikolas handled his innings commendably, however, a couple of hiccups, including a crucial run-scoring single by Francisco Lindor, set us back. Gomez let one go into the stands with Lugo cranking out a homer in the 9th which sealed the deal for the Mets. All in all, it wasn't enough against a Mets lineup that kept the pressure on throughout.

Rally Almost Simmers to a Boil

In the bottom of the 9th, there was a moment where hope flickered alive! Victor Scott II sparked things with a single and an impressive stolen base. Pinch hitter Luken Baker worked a walk to load the bases, but unfortunately the rally didn't come to fruition. A big hit here would have been magical, but it just wasn't meant to be tonight. ⚾

Let's keep our heads up and fill the stands because tomorrow’s a new day, and we’ll back our Cardinals as we charge forward with spirit into the next matchup! 💪👏
