Tough Loss on the Road for the Mets
Hey Mets fans, we had a rough outing against the Rangers last night, falling 5-3 in a game that slipped away late.
Early Game Action
The game started off promising with Francisco Lindor leading off the first inning with a single to left. He even stole second, but unfortunately, we couldn't bring him home as Brandon Nimmo, J.D. Martinez, and Pete Alonso couldn't come through. In the Rangers' half of the inning, some early trouble ensued with Robbie Grossman stealing second and eventually scoring due to hit by pitch on Wyatt Langford. We closed out the first trailing 1-0.Clawing Back
The bats were relatively quiet through the initial innings, but we showed life in the top of the 4th! Brandon Nimmo doubled, and Starling Marte followed up with another double to bring Nimmo home and tie the game 1-1. Still, we missed a chance to capitalize further, leaving more runners on base. By the sixth inning, things were looking up as Pete Alonso crushed a 427-foot homer to center, scoring J.D. Martinez and giving us a 3-1 lead!

Late Inning Woes
Unfortunately, our lead didn’t last long. The bottom of the 6th saw Robbie Grossman and Josh Smith come around to score, tying the game at 3-3. Then, a heartbreaker came in the bottom of the 7th when Leody Taveras hit a two-run homer, putting the Rangers ahead for good at 5-3.Final Innings and Wrap Up
We had a couple of quiet innings offensively toward the end of the game. In the 8th and 9th, J.D. Martinez and Vientos struck out while Alvarez grounded out, sealing the defeat. A strong effort by our relievers including Houser and Reid-Foley, but the bats just couldn’t deliver when it mattered.Though it was a tough loss, it's clear we have potential and just need to execute better in the clutch moments.
