Tough Loss on the Road
What an intense game that was, folks!
Early Inning Drama
Right from the get-go, Francisco Lindor brought some hope by singling to center in the first inning, but our luck was short-lived as Juan Soto struck out. Things didn't pick up for us in the second inning, despite Mark Vientos's promising double, and it remained scoreless. The Nationals got the jump on us in the third with Crews scoring on an infield single and a sacrifice fly from Bell.Trying to Turn the Tide
In the fourth inning, Marte managed a single but Pete Alonso doubled down with a grounding into a double play. Unfortunately, Washington extended their lead to 4-0 by the end of the inning. But then, there was a glimmer of hope!
Fighting Back
The sixth inning finally gave us Mets fans a reason to cheer!

Closing the Battle
As we maneuvered through the latter innings, hits were scarce. In the end, our rally fell just shy with a grounded double play in the top of the ninth. The game ended with a Nationals win, 5-4. Our pitching and fielding kept the game within reach, but their defense was just too strong. Not the result we wanted, but the way Brett Baty and Jeff McNeil stepped up is certainly something to be proud of!
Final Thoughts
Though the game didn’t go in our favor, our Mets showed grit and determination.
