Tough Loss in Washington
As a die-hard Mets fan, it was a tough game to sit through. We were off to a promising start with an early Francisco Lindor solo home run in the first. For a moment, I got that familiar feeling that perhaps tonight was going to be our night. But alas, that early lead slip right through our fingers like sand in an hourglass.A Bright Moment in the Early Innings
By the time we reached the third inning, Starling Marte added another homer to put us ahead 2-0. Brett Baty kept the momentum going in the fourth inning by crossing home after a well-executed sac fly by Hayden Senger, putting us up 3-0. It seemed our lineup was rolling, and everything was clicking in the early going.Fifth Inning Collapse
After a sharp fourth inning by Sean Manaea, we headed into the next half-inning feeling confident. Suddenly, though, a turn of events in the fifth left us floundering. Rogers replaced Manaea, and that’s when things got dicey. Nationals' Riley Adams knocked in two runs, putting them ahead 4-3, and from there, the tide turned. The Nationals' lineup erupted, leaving us powerless to respond.A Late Inning Nightmare
Our bullpen seemed like a revolving door, but the Nationals kept finding ways to score. James Wood added insult to injury with a late three-run homer in the eighth, further extending their lead to 9-3. As Cedric Mullins and Hayden Senger couldn't hold off the pressure in the last inning, that final whistle blew with us trailing 9-3.As painful as this one was, we'll brush it off our shoulders and prepare to battle again. Onward, Mets fans, onward!
