What a game, Cubs fans! Our boys in blue managed to hold off the New York Yankees in a thrilling contest that came down to the wire!
First Inning Glory!
We kicked off the game with Ian Happ doubling to left field, setting the stage for some early fireworks. After a bit of a rocky start where Dansby Swanson was caught in a fielder's choice, Cody Bellinger reached base thanks to a fielding error by Yankees' second baseman Gleyber Torres (thank you, Gleyber!
). Isaac Paredes came through in the clutch, singling to center and bringing in both Bellinger and Swanson to make it 2-0 Cubs! Yankees Get On Board
The Yanks managed to get one back in the second inning with Jazz Chisholm Jr. doubling and eventually scoring on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Volpe. Fortunately, that was all they could muster against our strong defense.
Strong Finish by the 'Pen
In the 7th inning, Pearson relieved Taillon and shut the door on the Yankees, striking out Anthony Volpe and Alex Verdugo while Gleyber Torres flied out to right. Cousins and Holmes couldn't break through our lineup, and our relievers kept us ahead!
Tension-Filled Final Innings
Hodge took over in the 9th and got Giancarlo Stanton to ground out, Jazz Chisholm Jr. to fly out, and after Anthony Rizzo walked and Duke Ellis stole second, Anthony Volpe struck out swinging to end the game! What a relief!
A True Team Effort!
Every member of the squad contributed to this win. The defense was impenetrable, and the pitching staff held their nerve under immense pressure. Special shoutout to Isaac Paredes for his incredible 2-RBI single that turned out to be the game-winner.
