Early Show from Juan Soto
Our Bombers started with a bang as Juan Soto launched a solo homer to right (357 feet) in the top of the first inning, giving us an early 1-0 lead. This inning also saw Alex Verdugo and Aaron Judge striking out and Austin Wells grounding out to second. The White Sox couldn't capitalize in their half of the inning, keeping the score at 1-0 after the first.White Sox Equalize in the 2nd
The second inning was quiet for us as Gleyber Torres, Trent Grisham, and Anthony Volpe all got out in their respective at-bats. The White Sox, however, got on the board with a solo homer by Gavin Sheets (364 feet), tying the game at 1-1 by the end of the inning.Scoreless Middle Innings
From the third to the fifth, both teams had their chances but couldn't convert. Our boys did have some close calls — Grisham managed to get to third in the fifth inning but was stranded there. Meanwhile, our pitching held strong with solid innings from Warren and Hill to keep the White Sox at bay.Seventh Inning Stretch Magic
The seventh inning was where we really broke it open. Oswaldo Cabrera stole second after a lead-off single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Verdugo. Then Wells delivered with a two-RBI single, bringing home Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, giving us a 4-2 lead. The White Sox were unable to respond, keeping the score 4-2 in our favor.Hitting Parade in the 8th
In the eighth, Anthony Volpe started it off with a double and was driven in by another single from Cabrera. Verdugo doubled to bring in Cabrera, making it 6-2. Then Judge smashed a three-run homer (361 feet), blowing the game wide open at 9-2. Wells added a solo homer for good measure, bringing the final score to an incredible 10-2.Closing It Out
Our bullpen sealed the win with a perfect ninth inning. Tonkin took care of business in the seventh and eighth, and we finished strong defensively in the ninth. Vargas's single was the only hiccup, but his advance to second on fielder's indifference didn't matter as Fletcher lined out to first to end the game.Final Thoughts
What a fantastic performance from our Yanks! An explosive seventh and eighth innings ensured a commanding 10-2 victory. Hats off to Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Austin Wells for their fantastic batting and a stellar effort from the bullpen. Let's keep this momentum going, Yankees!Scoreboard for Yankees @ White Sox (August 15th, 2024)
