Heartbreaker at Guaranteed Rate Field
Hey South Siders, I'm here licking my wounds after today’s game against the Yankees. Despite our boys showing great heart, we fell short 5-3 in extra innings. Watching them give their all inning after inning and seeing the game slip away is indeed a bitter pill to swallow.
A Tight Game with Some Highlights
The pitching staff managed to keep the Yanks quiet early on, but a monster homer by Aaron Judge in the 4th inning gave the Yankees a slight edge. We did manage to strike back in the 5th with Mike Tauchman tying it up with a clutch single! The score seesawed until Austin Wells launched a bomb in the 7th to give the Yankees another lead. Our rookie Chase Meidroth didn’t let that last long, bringing Curtis Mead home to even things up. A nice steal by Meidroth showed that he has some serious grit.Extra Innings Drama
We took it into extra innings, and boy, it was a nail-biter.
The 10th inning kept both sets of fans on the edge, but the Yankees finally broke through in the 11th when Cody Bellinger and Jazz Chisholm Jr. drove in critical runs after a pitching change. Our final effort had Colson Montgomery scoring, but we just couldn’t get past their reliever Camilo Doval.Though it wasn't the ending we hoped for, glad to see some young talent stepping up under pressure. Here’s to our guys regrouping and coming back stronger. On to the next one!
