Game Recap
It was a challenging outing for our Royals as the Yankees managed to take the game 3-1. The Yankees grabbed an early lead in the top of the 1st when Gleyber Torres doubled and was then driven home by a single from Juan Soto. Our boys kept fighting, but the Yankees' pitching kept tightening the noose around our bats as the game progressed.Struggling at the Plate
The Royals had trouble making contact, with struggles at the plate apparent right from the start. In the 1st inning, both Michael Massey and Vinnie Pasquantino were struck out, and Bobby Witt Jr. flied out. Despite an effort from Tommy Pham who created opportunities with his singles in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th innings, the team couldn't convert. Bobby Witt Jr. finally put us on the scoreboard in the 6th inning when he singled and was driven in by an impressive double from Pasquantino to end our scoring drought. ️Pitching and Defense
On the defensive side, we had a few bright spots as MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel both pulled off key plays in the outfield. Our bullpen, featuring Zerpa, Schreiber, and Long, displayed some fight as they worked to contain the Yankees, but alas, the efforts weren't enough against their lineup. The pitching staff did manage to secure some key outs, but the Yankees found gaps and capitalized on small mistakes, including a run scored on a single from Giancarlo Stanton in the 6th inning. Despite this, our team kept their spirits high and continued to focus on every play. All in all, it was a tough loss, but our boys showcased resilience, and we know they'll bounce back stronger in the next games! Let's go, Royals!
