Tough Night for the Phillies: Yankees 14, Phillies 4
Last night was a tough one for us Phillies fans as we watched our team go down 14-4 to the Yankees. Despite a promising start, the Yankees' bats just proved too powerful to contain.Yankees Set the Tone Early
It all started with Aaron Judge hammering a 406-foot solo homer in the top of the 1st inning to give the Yankees an early lead. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice added to that with homers in the 2nd inning, pushing the Yankees up to a 3-0 lead.Phillies' Early Response
It took us until the 3rd inning to get on the scoreboard. Nick Castellanos and Bryson Stott set the stage, and Trea Turner grounded into a fielder's choice to score Castellanos. In the 4th inning, Brandon Marsh gave us some excitement, smashing a 409-foot homer.Yankees Extend Their Lead
Things got rough in the 5th inning when the Yankees exploded for 4 more runs, highlighted by a Juan Soto double that scored two. They piled on more in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings, with Judge hitting another bomb and Chisholm Jr. adding a second homer.Missed Opportunities
We had our chances but couldn't capitalize. In the bottom of the 6th, Marsh hit an RBI single, but we grounded into a double play right after. The 7th inning saw Stott score on a wild pitch, but we couldn't muster more runs as Yankees pitching tightened up.Bright Spots and Final Thoughts
Despite the loss, seeing Marsh crush that homer and Stott's hustle on the basepaths were positives. It's still early in the season, and we've got a strong team. Let's shake this one off and come back stronger! The final score: Yankees 14, Phillies 4. Not our night, but the season is long! Go Phillies!
