A Tense Victory in Seattle: Yankees 2, Mariners 1 (10 innings)
What a nail-biter! The New York Yankees managed to clinch a narrow 2-1 victory in a thrilling extra-innings game against the Seattle Mariners. This game had us on the edge of our seats until the very end. Here's a quick recap of how the action unfolded.Strong Pitching and Early Lead
The game started off with both teams demonstrating strong pitching. In the top of the 2nd inning, Jasson Domínguez walked and advanced to third thanks to a throwing error by Mariners' catcher, Raleigh. Anthony Rizzo then singled to right to bring Domínguez home, giving us an early 1-0 lead!Meanwhile, our own pitchers were dealing. Nestor Cortes did a fantastic job of shutting down the Mariners' offense, including striking out Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh in the first inning.
Opportunities Missed, but Defense Holds Strong
In the 3rd inning, Juan Soto walked, and even though Aaron Judge was intentionally walked, we loaded the bases! Unfortunately, Jazz Chisholm Jr. struck out swinging. The Mariners tried to catch up, but clutch pitching by Tommy Kahnle and Clay Holmes kept them scoreless through the 7th inning.Top of the 8th inning saw the Mariners finally get on the board with a solo homer by Justin Turner, tying the game at 1-1. It was nail-bitingly close from there.
Extra-Inning Drama and a Heroic Finish
We headed into the 10th inning tied 1-1. That’s when Anthony Rizzo delivered once again, doubling to right field and bringing home Jasson Domínguez to put us up 2-1. Oswaldo Cabrera then came in to pinch-run for Rizzo, and though we couldn't add more insurance runs, the lead was enough!Double kudos to Ian Hamilton, who found himself in a tough spot in the bottom of the 10th but picked off Rodríguez on third and struck out Turner to seal the victory.
Final Thoughts
This game was a reminder of why we love baseball—thrilling, nerve-wracking, and ultimately rewarding, especially when our Yankees come out on top! Big shout-out to Anthony Rizzo for his clutch performances and to our pitching staff for holding it down. Let’s keep this momentum going!Yankees win, and it feels oh-so-good! ️
