Tough Start for the Cardinals 
It was a rocky beginning for our beloved St. Louis Cardinals as the Yankees took an early lead in the first inning. With Trent Grisham reaching base, a double from Ben Rice set the scene for an Aaron Judge RBI. The real kicker though, was Jazz Chisholm Jr. smacking a homer to right, bringing in two more runs. This left us Cardinals fans hoping for a comeback with the score at 0-3. Opportunity Missed 
The boys struggled at the plate through the early innings, with hits eluding us and double plays halting potential momentum. Despite some promising at-bats in the 5th, like Ivan Herrera's walk and Nolan Gorman's single, we fell short of converting these opportunities into runs. The score remained stubbornly at 0-4 until the latter innings.A Glimmer of Hope 
The 6th inning saw some fireworks, starting with Lars Nootbaar and Masyn Winn each hitting a double, which finally put us on the board! Even though we were down 1-4, there was a spark of hope. Scott II then delivered in the 7th, doubling to score Jordan Walker, while a wild pitch from the Yankees gifted us another run, bringing the Cards closer at 3-4.The Final Stretch 
In the tense 8th inning, we fell just short as attempts to level the score were thwarted by sharp Yankee fielding. Herrera managed a single, and a pickoff error advanced Garrett Hampson to second. However, a strikeout ended our push. In the 9th, David Bednar came in and closed the door on our evening, with Walker, Thomas Saggese, and Yohel Pozo unable to alter the outcome. Final Thoughts on a Close Game 
The game wraps up with a narrow 3-4 loss for the Cardinals. There were definitely highlight performances and moments of hope, particularly in the 6th and 7th innings, showcasing our resilience. A hard-fought battle where we came just a few swings away from changing the scoreboard in our favor. Keep the faith, Cards fans, as we look forward to bouncing back in the next game!
