The final score was a close 3-2, and while the outcome wasn't what we'd hoped for, there were plenty of highlights worth noting. Let's dive into the game's key moments.
A Slow Start for Both Teams
In the early innings, both sides seemed to struggle to get players across the plate. Our lineup had multiple chances—like in the bottom of the first when Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle, and Jeremiah Jackson all had opportunities but couldn't convert. It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth that the scoreboard saw some action thanks to Jordan Westburg, who hammered a solo homer to left field, giving us a brief 1-0 lead.

Athletics Level and Then Surge Ahead
The Athletics didn't stay quiet for long. In the top of the sixth, they tied the game up at 1-1 when Brent Rooker scored on a single by Colby Thomas. Things got tense in the seventh inning, but thanks to Coby Mayo's clutch double that allowed Alex Jackson to score, the Orioles managed to regain the lead, 2-1. Unfortunately, things slipped away in the ninth inning when Willie MacIver's double brought in two runs for the opposition, putting the A's ahead 3-2.
Close but Not Quite
The Orioles had one last shot in the bottom of the ninth. While Jackson Holliday showed incredible discipline at the plate with another walk, our bats fell silent with Jordan Westburg striking out to end the game. Despite the outcome, there were bright points: Gunnar Henderson showcased his speed with stolen bases, Jeremiah Jackson was impressive with that triple, and Coby Mayo proved why pinch hitters are so valuable.Overall, it was a game full of highs and lows, and as Orioles fans, we are hopeful for a better result next time.
