Tough Loss for the Athletics at Yankee Stadium
As an A's fan, today’s game against the Yankees was a tough one to watch. Despite some promising innings, we couldn't keep pace with New York's power. A final score of 12-5 showed us we have some work to do, but let's break down the game and some highlights for our Athletics.
Early Struggles
We started off a bit sluggishly, unable to get on the board in the first inning. Lawrence Butler and Jacob Wilson were both quickly dismissed, and Brent Rooker couldn't bring any change either. The Yankees didn't score immediately either, but Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered in the second inning, putting the Yankees up 1-0 early on.Middle Innings Surge
Things took a turn for the worse in the third inning when Chisholm Jr. struck again with a three-RBI triple. By the end of the third, the scoreboard read 5-0 against us. It wasn’t until the fifth inning that Willie MacIver managed to hit a homerun, giving us our first run at 7-1. Later, in the sixth inning, some smart base running and timely hits, including a score from Rooker and Kurtz, brought our tally to 5 runs. We were fighting our way back — if only our pitching had been a bit tighter.Closing Efforts
Despite the Yankees add-on runs with homers from Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, with one more by Judge in the 7th, our bullpen held strong and managed to keep further damage down. In response, though we had promising runners like Max Muncy and Tyler Soderstrom, unfortunately, the Yankees pitching held steady, ending the ninth inning with a 12-5 loss.It was a tough game, but we had some firepower moments. Let's continue to support our Athletics through thick and thin!
