A Tough Day in Philly

Fellow A's fans, it’s always tough to start a game recap with a heavy heart, but today’s bout against the Phillies didn’t go in our favor. Despite a valiant effort by our boys, we came up short with a final score of 11-5. 😔

Early Action and Promising Start

We had an encouraging start in the top of the 2nd inning when Brent Rooker doubled to left and Seth Brown followed up with another double, driving in Rooker to put us on the scoreboard first. But our early lead was quickly overshadowed by Nick Castellanos’ 2-run homer in the bottom half, putting the Phillies ahead.

Midgame Struggles

Just when we tied it up in the 3rd thanks to a homer by Zack Gelof, the Phillies pulled away again. More homers from Johan Rojas and Trea Turner in the 4th turned a close game into an uphill battle. Despite some solid hits and Rooker’s second homer in the 7th giving us a spark, Philly's relentless offense proved too much.

Late Game Rally Falls Short

Our bullpen couldn't stem the tide as the Phillies added four more runs in the 8th, making a comeback even more daunting. Miguel Andujar’s double in the 9th provided a final glimmer of hope, but back-to-back walks loaded the bases only for Rooker to strike out, encapsulating our frustrating night.

Bright Spots and Looking Ahead

Despite the loss, we saw some notable performances. Rooker had a great game with a homer and an unlikely infield single. Gelof continued to show his power with another homer, and Andujar came off the bench to make an impact.

Let’s hope the boys can shake this one off and come back strong in our next game. Keep your heads high A’s fans! We'll get 'em next time! 💚💛
