Tough Start for the Athletics

Well, let's face it, folks, the game didn't start off on the best foot for us Athletics fans. The top of the 1st inning saw both Nick Kurtz and Shea Langeliers striking out swinging, with Brent Rooker grounding out to shortstop. Then came the bottom of the 1st inning, where the Mariners quickly put two on the board thanks to a homer by Cal Raleigh. Our spirits were dampened early as the Mariners took a 2-0 lead. 😩

Light in the 2nd Inning

The 2nd inning gave us a glimmer of hope! Though Tyler Soderstrom struck out, Jacob Wilson hit a beautiful homer to left field, getting us on the board and narrowing the gap to 2-1. However, the Mariners came up swinging in the bottom of the inning, with Arozarena and Raleigh extending their lead with two more runs, making it 5-1.

Mariners Dominate the 3rd

As we moved into the 3rd, our bats went silent again, and the Mariners capitalized, adding six more runs to their tally, unfortunately due to a combination of walks and timely hits. The score ballooned to 11-1, and it felt like the Mariners were unstoppable today. We saw players like Garver and Robles making impactful plays, leaving us trailing by a significant margin. 😔

A Late-Inning Push

It wasn't until the top of the 7th inning that our beloved team mounted another form of a rally. Willie MacIver drove in Jacob Wilson with a single, and a hit-by-pitch to Luis Urias allowed JJ Bleday to score. We added two more runs to make it 11-3, showing that our team is always up to fight back no matter the scoreline. 👊

Final Push in the 8th

In the top of the 8th, Colby Thomas doubled and eventually scored on a groundout by Jacob Wilson. By then, the score read 11-4 as our Athletics hustled to make every inning count. The effort and resilience gave us pride even amidst the looming outcome. 🙌

Conclusion

This was a tough outing against an incredibly strong Mariners lineup. It wasn't our day, but the Oakland Athletics showed determination with key plays from Jacob Wilson and others. Even though we walked away with a 4-11 loss, the heart and hustle of our team never wavered. Let's keep cheering and supporting with the hopes of bouncing back in the next one. Go A's! 💚💛
