Heartbreak in St. Louis

Hey Athletics fans, another tough loss is in the books. Our boys put up a great fight against the Cardinals but came up short with a 2-1 finish. 😔

Early Hope

The game got off to a promising start with JJ Bleday's sharp double in the 3rd inning, followed by a score thanks to Nick Kurtz's double. Kurtz's hit brought Bleday home and gave us an early 1-0 lead, showcasing his power and precision at the plate. It felt like the momentum was building, but unfortunately, that's where the scoring ended for us.

Defensive Highlights

Our defense held strong throughout most of the game, especially in the late innings. Zack Gelof made impressive plays and doubled in the 5th inning to keep hopes alive. H. Harris and Kelly pitched solidly, giving up little ground until that unlucky 6th inning moment.

A Painful 6th Inning

An unforgettable (and not in a good way) moment came in the 6th inning when Ivan Herrera launched a homer, bringing in two runs to flip the game on its head. This was the twist that sealed the game in favor of the Cardinals. 😞

Final Attempts and Unyielding Spirit

Despite the setback, the team battled in the last few innings, with Tyler Soderstrom, Carlos Cortes, and Colby Thomas all giving their best. However, the Cards' defense proved too stubborn.

Looking Onward

It was one of those games where the outcome didn’t align with our hard-fought effort. Let's keep our heads high! The team showed resilience and talent, and there's plenty to be excited about for the next match. Go A’s! 💚⚾💛
