Tough Start for the Jays 😩

What a rough beginning for our boys! The Athletics came out swinging in the first inning, putting up a whopping 6 runs. Lawrence Butler's double and JJ Bleday's homer were just the start. Zack Gelof added another homer to make the score look pretty ugly right out of the gate.

Offense Struggles to Find Rhythm 😬

Our hitters couldn't find their groove early on. George Springer struck out swinging to start the first inning, and despite a few groundouts and pop flies, the Jays left the first inning without any runs.

Varsho's Dinger Shows Some Life 💪

We finally saw some spark in the bottom of the 4th when Daulton Varsho smashed a homer to right field. It felt like the Jays might start to rally, but the inning ended with only the one run.

Pitching Change Leads to Stability 🧱

Yarbrough came in to relieve Bassitt and managed to keep the A's scoreless in the 5th inning. Swanson and Nance also did their best to stabilize the game, preventing further runs in their respective innings.

Late-Game Rally Falls Short 🌟

In the bottom of the 8th, the Blue Jays gave us a glimmer of hope. Spencer Horwitz walked, followed by another walk from Davis Schneider. Luis De Los Santos doubled to bring in Horwitz, and an RBI single by Springer brought two more runs in. However, the rally ended when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. grounded into a double play.

Final Attempt and Close the Game 🛑

The 9th inning saw Otanez relieve Miller, but the Jays couldn't get the necessary hits to extend the game. Alejandro Kirk and Ernie Clement both flied out, and Horwitz grounded out to end the game with a final score of 8-4 in favor of the Athletics.

Tough loss, but we saw some flashes of potential. Let's hope the Jays bounce back in the next game. Go Jays! 💙🧢⚾
