Game Philadelphia Phillies @ Chicago Cubs (April 26th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Tough Day for Cubs Fans

Despite high hopes against the Philadelphia Phillies, our beloved Chicago Cubs couldn't capitalize and suffered a 10-4 loss at home. It wasn’t the kind of performance we were hoping for, but hey, there's always the next game. The Phillies came out strong, and we simply couldn’t keep up.

Quiet Start, Explosive Fourth for Phillies

The game started quietly for both teams. Neither managed to put any runs on the board through the first three innings, with Ian Happ earning some walks early on but our offense failing to convert those opportunities. The top of the fourth, however, was a different story. The Phillies unleashed a scoring frenzy with six runs off solid hits, including a two-RBI double by Bryce Harper. It was a tough inning to get through, and our pitching change could only stop the bleeding by then.

Cubs' Offensive Struggles

Our Cubs tried to mount a comeback in the fifth with an encouraging two-RBI single by Seiya Suzuki, bringing us some much-needed runs. Miguel Amaya and Jon Berti were bright spots, getting on base and setting up scoring opportunities, but we couldn’t quite close the gap. Despite a glimmer of hope with two more runs in the seventh, including a sacrifice fly by Justin Turner, the Phillies' early lead proved insurmountable. The day ended with Vidal Bruján reaching base in the ninth, but we just couldn't muster that rally we needed.

Looking Ahead

It wasn’t the outcome we were hoping for, but ups and downs are all part of baseball. Let’s shake this one off, rally the team spirit, and come back stronger. There are more games to win and cheers to be shared at Wrigley. Go Cubs Go! ⚾💙❤️
