Tough Loss in Extra Innings for the Cubs
Fellow Cubs fans, it was a hard-fought game against the Phillies, but unfortunately, it slipped away in extra innings with a 3-1 loss. Our boys kept it tight, thanks to solid pitching and great defensive plays, but the offense just didn't click after the 2nd inning.Early Action and Crow-Armstrong's RBI Double
The game started off pretty uneventful, with both teams showing strong defense in the first inning. In the bottom of the 2nd, the spark we needed came from Nico Hoerner, who doubled to center. What a sight it was when Pete Crow-Armstrong followed with a double to right, bringing Hoerner home for the first run. Timing those hits perfectly is what gets the job done!Pitching in Sync, but Bats Fall Silent
Our pitchers did a stellar job, holding off the Phillies for most of the game. Kudos to all the arms that kept the game tight up through nine innings. But hats off to Taillon for making sure the Phillies stayed in check early on. Despite getting some runners on base in key spots, our lineup struggled to find another breakthrough following that second inning.10th-Inning Heartbreaker
Extra innings can always be a toss-up, and sadly, the Phillies found ways to capitalize. Two walks and a sacrifice fly put them ahead. Trea Turner managed to sneak in another run with an infield single, which pushed the edge just a bit too far for us. Thielbar stopped the bleeding when he relieved, but the damage was done.Moving Forward
Tough ending, but it's crucial we not hang our heads for too long! We saw a glimpse of the fight in our Cubbies, and with some polish on those bats, we'll be turning these nail-biters into wins soon enough. Let’s pack the stands and get ready for the next one. Go Cubs Go!
