Phillies Take Down Cubs in a 5-3 Victory!
Hey Phillies fans! What an exciting game we had against the Cubs. It wasn’t easy, but our boys pulled through with a well-needed win. Let’s dive into how it all went down at Wrigley Field.Early Struggles and Breakthroughs
It was a slow start for both teams with a scoreless first inning. We had a little hiccup in the second inning when Pete Crow-Armstrong doubled to right, letting Ian Happ score to give the Cubs an early 1-0 lead. But then, in the top of the 3rd inning, Rafael Marchan stepped up with a solo homer to left center (414 feet) to tie the game 1-1!Trading Blows
The Cubs snuck ahead again in the 4th with another double from Crow-Armstrong, sending Happ home, making it 2-1 Cubs. No worries, though! Our very own Alec Bohm homered in the 6th inning, bringing himself and Trea Turner home to take a 3-2 lead. Way to go, Bohm!Sealing the Deal in the 8th
It got tense in the 7th when the Cubs tied it up 3-3, but we fought back hard in the top of the 8th. After Turner and Bohm got on base, Edmundo Sosa nailed a sacrifice fly to bring Turner home while Whit Merrifield singled to bring in Bohm. This made it 5-3 Phillies and gave us that sweet cushion!Closing It Out
Our bullpen was lights out in the final innings. Matt Strahm, Orion Kerkering, and José Alvarado made sure the Cubs couldn’t come back. Alvarado finished with a strikeout of Michael Busch to end the game with a score of 5-3, securing our victory! Can't wait to see what our Phillies do next. Let’s keep this momentum going. GO PHILS!
