Initial Innings: Setting the Stage

The game started with a bit of a tense first inning, highlighted by a walk to Kyle Schwarber and a single by Trea Turner, but our pitching held firm, with Bryan Festa stepping in to get some crucial outs. The first inning ended scoreless for both sides.

Second Inning Action

The second inning brought the game's first run, thanks to a blast from Matt Wallner, who sent the ball flying 441 feet over the fence. Our lead was sweetened even though the rest of the inning didn't provide any additional runs.

Resilience and Defense

Over the next couple of innings, we witnessed solid pitching and defensive plays from our team. The top of the fourth inning was particularly smooth with quick outs, including two pop-outs. Our defense had them under control!

Fifth Inning Jitters

The fifth inning saw the Phillies tie the score with a homer from Trea Turner. However, we quickly adjusted, and Caleb Thielbar relieved Festa to halt their momentum. Our batting lineup unfortunately couldn't break the tie in the bottom half.

Falling Behind in the Sixth

The sixth inning got rough as the Phillies capitalized on a couple of hits, and Schwarber drove in two runs, making it 3-1 in their favor. Our batters fought back bravely, loading the bases but couldn't convert as Brooks Lee struck out swinging.

Comeback Time!

The Phillies extended their lead to 4-1 in the seventh inning. But the bottom of the 7th saw a beautiful swing, starting with patience at the plate. Santana doubled, driving in two runs including a score by Kepler, designed by Manuel Margot hitting for Wallner.

Lockdown Pitching and Clutch Moments

Both teams stayed scoreless in the eighth inning despite threats. Austin Martin showcased his speed and fundamentals with a sacrifice in his half of the inning! The bullpen stood tall, particularly Jhoan Duran in the ninth, ensuring no runs for the Phillies and setting the stage for the bottom of the 9th.

Walk-Off Win 💥

The tension was palpable when Trevor Larnach got hit by a pitch to reach base, advancing to second on a wild pitch. Austin Martin's sacrifice moved him to third, and then the hero of the night, Max Kepler, brought in the winning run with an infield single. Twins win 5-4! This victory feels fantastic, folks! Let’s keep this momentum going! 💪🎉
