Not Our Day in New York

Well, Phillies fans, it was a tough outing for our boys today against the New York Mets. Despite a promising start, we couldn’t sustain the momentum throughout the game, ultimately falling 1-5 to the Mets. Let's break it down inning by inning. 🥲

Early Promise But Tough Luck

We started with some hope as Bryson Stott got us going with a single to left in the first inning. We had a solid opportunity to score with Kyle Schwarber's single advancing Stott to third, but we couldn't capitalize, as Nick Castellanos flied out to center to end the inning. The Mets wasted no time in taking the lead with Mark Vientos doubling in Juan Soto in the bottom of the first. However, Johan Rojas came through in the second inning, driving in J.T. Realmuto to even the score at 1-1. 😊

Missed Opportunities

In the following innings, we struggled to get runners across. Despite hits and a few walks, we left multiple players stranded on base. Max Kepler and Alec Bohm managed to get hits, but scoring chances slipped away as the Mets' defense held strong. Meanwhile, Francisco Lindor put the Mets ahead again in the second, and they continued to extend their lead due to untimely errors and a few wild pitches. It just wasn't our pitching staff's day. 😬

A Heartbreaker of a 7th Inning

Our relief struggled in the seventh inning with the Mets capitalizing on our mistakes. Pete Alonso and Luis Torrens delivered key hits that allowed the Mets to pull away, scoring crucial runs in the process. We witnessed throwing errors and wild pitches that unfortunately widened the gap even further, making it a daunting task to catch up in the later innings. 😩

Closing Out Unsuccessfully

The late innings provided a glimpse of hope with Kyle Schwarber and Max Kepler earning walks, but Nick Castellanos hit into a double play, and other opportunities fell by the wayside. Our offense couldn't find its rhythm, and the game concluded with Bryson Stott grounding out in the ninth inning sealing our fate. 😔

Tough game, but it’s not the end of the road, Phillies fans. Let's hope for a bounce-back performance next time! Keep the faith! ❤️⚾
