Tough Loss in Extras at Citi Field
Hey Phillies fans!
Grinding Through the Early Innings
The game started with Trea Turner and Bryce Harper showing some promise at the top of the lineup. Harper managed a single in the 1st inning, but that was quickly cut short with a fielder's choice. Meanwhile, the Mets broke through first in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Brett Baty launched a two-run homer, putting the Mets up 2-0. Our guys came back swinging in the 4th, with Sosa, Rojas, and Turner combining to drive in two runs and level the score at 2-2.
Back-and-Forth Battle
The squads exchanged zeros through the middle innings, with J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos trying to capitalize on opportunities but coming up just short. Big shoutout to our pitching staff for toughing it out and keeping us in the game through the 7th inning with 7 strikeouts between them!
Tension in Extras
The 10th inning was a nail-biter. Nick Castellanos broke the deadlock and put us ahead with a run-scoring single after Bryce Harper showed his base-running prowess by stealing third. It looked like we had it in the bag, scoring the go-ahead run and feeling the energy of the game turn our way. Sadly, things didn't go as hoped in the bottom half as Pete Alonso and Starling Marte were able to plate runs for the Mets in walk-off fashion, securing a hard-fought 4-3 victory.
Let’s keep our heads up, Phillies fans. The season is a marathon, and we'll shake it off as we head into the next game!
