A Tough Loss in New York
Well, Phillies fans, it was a tough day for us at Citi Field as the Mets handed us a 7-2 defeat. It seemed like we just couldn't catch a break today—especially with Pete Alonso starting things off in the 2nd inning with a 385-foot homer that set the tone for the Mets. Despite our expectations, the Mets’ pitching managed to keep our bats quiet through much of the game.Offensive Struggles
Our offense struggled to find its rhythm from the start. Kyle Schwarber flew out in the first inning leading off, and Trea Turner and Bryce Harper were both unable to reach base either. J.T. Realmuto was hit by a pitch in the 2nd inning but, unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize. It was frustrating to see promising opportunities come up short with Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm in the 5th and 6th innings - especially when Turner and Harper each found a chance to get on base. It's one of those games where breaks just didn't fall our way.Briefly Lighting Up the 8th
There was a flicker of hope in the 8th inning when we started to rally. Bryson Stott and Brandon Marsh, pinch-hitting for the team, boosted our spirits momentarily. Harper and Castellanos each delivered crucial hits, bringing in Sosa and Schwarber and putting a couple of runs on the board! For a while, it felt like the momentum might swing in our direction, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Mets’ stronghold on the game. Not Our Day, But Onward We Go
In the end, our pitching trio of Nola, Kerkering, and Alvarado tried their best, but the Mets had too much firepower today. Their deep lineup ensured our efforts were thwarted, and they kept adding runs into the late game. We may have left today without a W, but our Philly pride remains unshaken. Let's regroup and come back ready to fight harder for the next game! Go Phillies!
