The game started as a classic pitcher’s duel, with both teams struggling to get on the scoreboard. Our ace, Aaron Nola, did pretty well initially, keeping the Cardinals bats in check. We saw some successful base running from Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber in the first inning. Unfortunately, despite those efforts, Cardinals starter Andre Pallante made sure we didn't capitalize on those opportunities. We left Harper and Schwarber stranded in scoring position, which would become the theme of the night.Missed Opportunities
In the fifth inning, the Cardinals managed to break through. A couple of singles and a double from Yohel Pozo allowed them to take a 1-0 lead. It soon became 2-0, thanks to some timely hitting and a wild pitch. Although we had runners on base, our offense just couldn't string hits together when we needed it the most. But unfortunately, despite our boys' efforts, the Cardinals' closer, Ryan Helsley, shut us down.
