Phillies Come Out On Top Against Blue Jays, 4-2!

What a game, Phillies fans! 🎉 Our boys delivered a solid performance tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays, walking away with a 4-2 victory! Let's break it down.

Early Action and Homer Power

We got on the board early thanks to a solo shot by Kyle Schwarber in the top of the 1st inning. However, the Blue Jays responded quickly with two runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st, including doubles from Daulton Varsho and Vladimir Guerrero Jr..

But our guys didn't let that get them down! In the top of the 2nd inning, Kody Clemens stepped up big time with a two-run homer to right, bringing Brandon Marsh home and putting us back in the lead, 3-2. 💥

Defensive Standoff

The middle innings turned into a defensive showdown. Neither team could muster much offense, but our pitching and fielding stayed strong. From the 3rd to the 7th inning, our pitchers kept the Blue Jays at bay, including strikeouts from Zach Eflin, crucial outs, and Jeff Hoffman maintaining composure.

Insurance Run in the 9th

In the top of the 9th, J.T. Realmuto provided an insurance run with a solo homer to left-center, making it 4-2 and giving us some breathing room. Then, Brandon Marsh added a double, although we couldn't push any more runs across after that.

Closing It Out

Our bullpen did not disappoint. Estévez came in to shut the door in the 9th inning. After a couple of quick outs and a walk, Estévez struck out Will Wagner to end the game, securing the win for the Phillies!

Player of the Game

While Kyle Schwarber set the tone early, it's tough to overlook Kody Clemens for his crucial two-run homer that ultimately gave us the edge. Both get a big round of applause! 👏

Great team effort tonight, Phillies fans! On to the next! 🥳⚾
