Tough Loss in Extras for the Buccos
Hey there, fellow Pirates fans
Key Moments
The game started promisingly with Spencer Horwitz doubling to set the stage in the top of the 1st inning. Our veteran, Andrew McCutchen was pivotal with a single to left that brought Horwitz home, giving us an early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the Orioles quickly tied it up in their half of the inning, as Jackson Holliday crossed home plate off a sacrifice fly.As we progressed through the innings, both teams struggled to convert hits into runs, with strikeouts and groundouts marking the night's box score. The tension mounted until the 6th inning when the Orioles' Jeremiah Jackson hit a homer to right, giving Baltimore a 2-1 lead. But fear not, because Tommy Pham brought the drama back for us in the 9th inning with a clutch homer to tie it up! What a powerhouse!
An Intense Extra Innings Battle
Into extra innings, it was edge-of-your-seat action. The 10th inning saw us unable to capitalize on base runners despite strong appearances from Ji Hwan Bae and Jared Triolo. In the bottom of the 11th, with the scoreboard still showing 2-2, the Orioles rallied. They played small ball to the tee, and with Samuel Basallo knocking in the winning run, the Orioles scraped by with a victory.Final Thoughts
Despite the loss, there were highlights and reasons to be positive. McCutchen and Pham showed why they're critical to our lineup, while our pitching staff gave us ample opportunities to take the game. Keep your chin up, Pirates faithful! The season's still young, and we're just getting started
