First things first, fellow Pirates fans: We did it! 🎉 Another amazing game against the Cubs locked in the books, demonstrating once again the never-say-die spirit of our team. Let's break down this rollercoaster ride of a game!

Strong Pitching Duel

The game started as a pitcher's battle, with both teams' batting orders unable to capitalize through the first five innings. Our bullpen did a phenomenal job containing the Cubs' hitters. Shoutout to our relievers like Mlodzinski and Ferguson who kept the Cubs scoreless through crucial stages. The Cubs couldn’t get much going—a testament to our solid defense. 💪

Late Drama

Finally, in the top of the 8th, we broke the deadlock! Henry Davis got things going with a double. Isiah Kiner-Falefa brought him home with a well-placed sacrifice bunt to third, allowing Oneil Cruz to bring Davis in with a fielder's choice. Despite our best efforts, the Cubs managed to tie it up at 1-1 in their half of the 8th.

Extra Innings Excitement

When the game went to extra innings, we all knew something special was brewing. In the top of the 10th, after some heads-up base running that had Hayes and Frazier advancing, Isiah Kiner-Falefa once again stepped up. His sacrifice fly was perfect, bringing in Frazier for the go-ahead run. Bedlam ensued in the bottom of the 10th! With Bednar closing the game and eliminating any hopes of a Cubs comeback, we clinched the win with a final score of 2-1. Bednar was nothing short of sensational in shutting it down.

Guys, this is what Pirates baseball is all about—grit, resilience, and coming through in clutch moments. Another "W" in our sails, and we're sailing closer to brighter horizons. 🏴‍☠️ Let's go Bucs! 🌟
