Early Lead for the Bucs
The game started splendidly for the Pirates with Andrew McCutchen doubling to left. Bryan Reynolds was clutch with a single to right, placing McCutchen at third. Oneil Cruz managed to get McCutchen home with a fielder's choice, and the Pirates grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, we couldn't add more runs after that, but it was a fantastic start!Ortiz Shines on the Mound
Our boys on the mound were lights out early on! Ortiz was in command, and even though Robert Jr. reached on a fielding error in the 4th, Ortiz kept his composure, striking out Sheets and Vaughn in succession. The game tied up in the 6th when Robert Jr. singled to center, bringing Pham home. But Nicolas came in strong and kept the Sox at bay. Then, in the 7th inning, our offense erupted! Ke'Bryan Hayes reached on an infield single, Connor Joe got hit by a pitch, and Andrew McCutchen loaded the bases with a single. The magic continued with Bryan Reynolds delivering a crucial 2-RBI single. We took a 3-1 lead!Closing with Authority
In the 9th, Connor Joe walked and Yasmani Grandal reached on a fielder's choice error. Pinch-hitter Joey Bart walked, loading the bases. Reynolds did it again, singling to right and bringing in two more runs! Oneil Cruz capped it with a sac fly, pushing the score to 6-2. Santana finished it off, striking out Sheets and Sosa, clinching our victory.Final Thoughts
What a fantastic game, Pirates fans! The pitching was stellar, the offense came alive exactly when needed, and our bullpen closed the door.
