An Explosive Start
Wow, what a rollercoaster of a game for us Pirates fans!

The first inning was nothing short of spectacular as we saw our team explode with an offensive outburst. It all started with some fantastic hitting by
Spencer Horwitz and
Andrew McCutchen, setting the stage for
Oneil Cruz to blast a grand slam home run over center field, putting us up 5-0 right off the bat.

Adding in another homer from
McCutchen, our first inning ended with an incredible 9-run lead!
Building the Lead
After that scorching start, our Buccos maintained a solid lead throughout the next few innings. By the fourth inning, thanks to some strategic batting from
Horwitz and
McCutchen, we extended our lead to 12-4. Our batters were aggressive, and
Isiah Kiner-Falefa and
Jared Triolo kept adding runs to make it 15-6 by the fifth.

The sixth inning added one more to the tally, with
Joey Bart getting hit by a pitch to bring in
McCutchen, setting us at 16-10. We seemed unstoppable with a secure lead.
Heartbreaking Loss
After holding a six-run lead into the ninth, things took a drastic turn.

The Rockies' hitters went on a tear, starting off with back-to-back homers by
Hunter Goodman and some key hits by
Brenton Doyle. By the ninth inning, they chipped away at our lead, and the dreaded walk-off home run by
Doyle sealed our fate, resulting in a gut-wrenching 16-17 loss.

It was an absolute heartbreak for us Pirates fans to witness, but hats off to the Rockies for a relentless comeback effort.
Despite the disappointing loss, there were plenty of positives from our lineup, and we’ll be rooting hard for the Pirates to bounce back in the next game! Let’s keep the faith, fellow fans.

Onward and upward!
