Rockies Fall to Pirates in a Tough 5-2 Loss

Hey Rockies fans, it was a tough day at Coors Field as we took on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Despite some spirited moments, we just couldn't keep up and ended with a 5-2 loss. Let's break down the game.

Early Inning Struggles

Our boys had a rocky start (pun intended 🤪). In the top of the 1st inning, Bryan Reynolds blasted a 432-foot homer to right field, putting the Pirates up 1-0. Even though Charlie Blackmon started strong, we couldn't capitalize on Brenton Doyle's single, and the inning ended without any runs for us.

Missed Opportunities

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Blackmon doubled, and Doyle followed with a single, putting Blackmon on third. But, an unfortunate double play from Ezequiel Tovar ended our chance to even the score.

Fifth-Inning Breakthrough

The 5th inning saw our only real spark. Charlie Blackmon doubled again, bringing Adael Amador to third. Tovar tripled to left field, allowing Blackmon to score and finally tying the game at 1-1. The joy was short-lived though, as Ryan McMahon grounded out to end the inning.

Pirates Pull Away

The momentum shifted back to the Pirates in the 6th inning when Andrew McCutchen launched a 448-foot homer to center, putting them up 2-1. The real dagger came in the 7th inning, when Jack Suwinski smashed a 459-foot homer with Ke'Bryan Hayes on base, extending Pittsburgh's lead to 4-1.

Late-Inning Efforts Fall Short

By the 8th inning, the Pirates had added another run, making it 5-1. Our last glimmer of hope came in the bottom of the 9th when Charlie Blackmon homered to right center, a 412-foot beauty that lifted our spirits momentarily. Unfortunately, Doyle grounded out to end the game.

Final Thoughts

Despite the final score, there were some positive takeaways. Charlie Blackmon had a fantastic game at the plate, and Brenton Doyle showed some promise. The fight in our team is strong, and we'll bounce back from this.

Keep the faith, Rockies fans! We've got more games ahead and plenty of chances to turn this around! 💜⚾
