A Nail-Biter Loss for the Pirates
Ah, what a rollercoaster of a game that was, fellow Pirates fans! It's hard to take a loss in such a competitive match against the Kansas City Royals, but hey, our squad showed resilience and made it gripping until the very last inning. Despite the 3-4 defeat, there were some bright moments to keep our chins up!
Key Moments in the Game
The game started slow with both teams struggling to get runs on the board. A standout moment for us was in the 4th inning when our very own Oneil Cruz blasted a solo homer to right center
, leveling the score at 1-1. In the 7th inning, Nick Gonzales brought his A-game, hitting a massive homer to center, putting us ahead 2-1. But the excitement was short-lived as the Royals’ Nick Loftin scored a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning, edging them ahead to 3-2. A Tense Finish
The drama peaks in the 8th inning! With the bases at a glance, Isiah Kiner-Falefa took advantage of a pickoff error, eventually scoring and equalizing the game at 3-3 with some crafty base running!
But despite Ke'Bryan Hayes putting himself in scoring position in the 9th with a critical double, we just couldn't convert. Frazier’s final out left us tied going into the bottom of the 9th. In the end, it was Nick Loftin again, delivering the game-winning single to seal the Royals' victory
