A Promising Start
Hey, fellow Pirates fans!
Dodgers Take Over
Unfortunately, the Dodgers responded swiftly in the bottom of the first. After Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts both got on base, Freddie Freeman slapped a single that scored them both, tying the game up at 2-2. The Dodgers took advantage of an error by Ke'Bryan Hayes and some timely hitting, ending the inning with a 4-2 lead. It was a tough inning for us defensively and set the Dodger momentum rolling.Pirates' Bats Go Silent
From there on, it was a bit of a struggle for our lineup. After those early excitement moments, the Dodgers' pitching really held us in check. Aside from a couple of singles from McCutchen, there wasn't much noise from our bats. The Dodgers continued to pile on the runs with homers from Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages, expanding their lead to 9-2 by the end of the 6th inning.Silver Linings
Ke'Bryan Hayes and Adam Frazier both managed singles in the late innings, showing that fighting spirit we know and love. And, although Tommy Pham had a rough day at the plate, he and Isiah Kiner-Falefa each displayed moments of solid defense. Don't let the score discourage you, Pirates Nation. Every game is a learning experience and we have a lineup that shows a lot of tenacity. We'll bounce back, no doubt about it. Let's keep showing that Buc pride!
On to the next one! Let's go, Bucs!
