Tough Loss for the Pirates in Extra Innings
We had such high hopes heading into this game, but it slipped away in extra innings. The Pirates fell 6-5 to the Dodgers in a heartbreaker. Let's go through what happened inning by inning.Early Struggles for the Pirates
Things didn’t start well for us. In the top of the 1st inning, Andrew McCutchen, Bryan Reynolds, and Oneil Cruz were all retired in order. The Dodgers then jumped to an early lead with Freddie Freeman scoring off a double by Will Smith, and Amed Rosario singled to bring in another run.McCutchen Keeps Us in the Game
By the time Andrew McCutchen came up in the third inning, we were down 4-0. But he gave us a spark with a two-run homer, bringing in Ji Hwan Bae to cut the deficit to 4-2. Bryan Reynolds followed with a fly out, but at least we got some life!Dodgers Add Insurance Runs
Despite some stellar pitching in the middle innings, we allowed a few more runs. In the bottom of the second, Teoscar Hernández hit a double to bring in two more Dodger runs, making it 4-0. They didn't score for a few innings but managed to hold onto their lead.Comeback Mode Activated
In the 8th inning, Andrew McCutchen once again showed why he's a fan favorite, hitting another homer to tie the game 4-4 with Michael A. Taylor scoring ahead of him. We were back in it, baby!Taking the Lead in the 10th
The top of the 10th inning brought some excitement! With Michael A. Taylor starting at second (extra-inning rules), Bryan Reynolds singled to center, allowing Taylor to score and giving us a 5-4 lead. Unfortunately, Oneil Cruz grounded into a double play to end our chances to score more.Heartbreaking End
Our lead didn’t last long. In the bottom of the 10th, Enrique Hernández doubled to left to bring in Miguel Rojas, tying the game 5-5. Teoscar Hernández then singled to right, bringing in the winning run and ending the game 6-5. It was a tough pill to swallow.Looking Forward
