Game Summary: Pirates vs. Brewers

Well, fellow Buccos fans, it's been a tough one to swallow today as our Pittsburgh Pirates were shut out by the Milwaukee Brewers with a final score of 9-0. 😞 Let's dive into what happened inning by inning.

Early Inning Struggles

Starting from the top, Andrew McCutchen grounded out to second base, followed by Bryan Reynolds flying out to left and Rowdy Tellez flying out to center, leaving us scoreless in the 1st inning. The Brewers, however, quickly got into action. Christian Yelich reached on an infield single, and Willy Adames doubled, bringing Yelich home. Sal Frelick then singled, driving in Adames, putting the Brewers ahead 2-0 early on.

Middle Inning Woes

Unfortunately, our bats didn't wake up in the 2nd through 4th innings either. The Brewers extended their lead in the 4th inning when William Contreras doubled, bringing in two more runs. By the end of the 4th inning, the score was Brewers 4, Pirates 0. We managed a couple of hits here and there, but nothing came of it. Bryan Reynolds singled in the fourth, but the following batters couldn't capitalize.

Late Inning Collapse

Things went from bad to worse in the 5th inning after a solo homer by Rhys Hoskins made it 5-0. We had a promising start to the 7th when Rowdy Tellez doubled, but it was immediately nullified by an inning-ending double play.

The 8th inning was unbearable. With Willy Adames homering and bringing in three runs, the Brewers sealed the deal with a 9-0 lead.

Wrap-Up

Our Pirates did show some fight here and there, but the Brewers' pitching and clutch hitting were too much for us today. Here's hoping we come back stronger in the next game! 💪 Let's go Bucs! 🖤💛
