Explosive Start for the Pirates
What a fantastic game for the Buccos!
We started the match with an explosive opening inning, putting five on the scoreboard before the Cardinals even had a chance to bat! Jared Triolo and Spencer Horwitz got us going with back-to-back singles, setting up Bryan Reynolds for a crucial double that drove Triolo home. To add to our momentum, Oneil Cruz walked to load the bases. Enter our trusty veteran, Andrew McCutchen, who smacked a single to bring in both Horwitz and Reynolds. The mighty Jack Suwinski then hit a ground rule double scoring Cruz, and Henry Davis finished the opening assault with a sacrifice fly that brought McCutchen home, wrapping up a magnificent 5-run inning for the black and gold. 
Pirates In Full Cruise Control
The second inning saw us maintaining our charge with Horwitz hitting another single and Reynolds capitalizing on a fielding error by Cardinals’ center fielder Lars Nootbaar, extending our lead. Oneil Cruz followed with a groundout that still pushed Reynolds across the plate, bringing our score to a commanding 7-0. In the third inning, Henry Davis launched a solo homer deep to left, stretching our lead even further to 8-0.
Strong Pitching Seals the Deal
The Cardinals struggled against our pitching staff throughout the night. Despite a two-run homer by Nolan Gorman in the fourth, our pitchers held their lineup at bay, striking out batters and shutting down any potential rallies. Mitch Keller was superb in the starting role, with solid relief from Cam Alldred, Cody Bolton, and Colin Selby finishing things off. Even as the game winded down, our defense continued to shine, sealing an 8-3 victory and lifting our spirits as we move forward.fist bump
