Another Tough Loss for the Buccos
It’s another rough one, Pirates fans. The Buccos fell to the Cardinals with a final score of 1-3. Let's dive into today's game and see where things went wrong.Early Momentum
We got off to a decent start in the second inning when Bryan De La Cruz smashed a homer to center field, setting us ahead 1-0. Our ace was on point early, with Luis Ortiz keeping the Cardinals scoreless through the first two innings. That felt good, didn’t it?Missed Opportunities
However, the Cardinals answered back in the third inning when Luken Baker tripled to bring in Michael Siani. The game was tied, 1-1. We had some chances ourselves, particularly when Nick Gonzales doubled in the 8th inning with no outs, but we just couldn't capitalize. Those rally-killing double plays and strikeouts hurt. Andrew McCutchen and Rowdy Tellez couldn't get it done with runners in scoring positions.Cardinals' Surge
The Cards took the lead in the 4th inning with a homer from Jordan Walker. We were battling, but the pitching change to Mlodzinski couldn’t stop the Cards. They added another in the 8th with a sac fly from Nolan Arenado to score Masyn Winn, making it 3-1, and that proved to be the dagger.Final Attempts
We tried for a late rally in the 9th. Nick Yorke managed to get on base with a single, but pinch-hitter Yasmani Grandal struck out looking. It was a disappointing end to what could have been a big comeback inning.Looking Forward
We’ve shown flashes of brilliance, but there’s still work to be done. Let’s regroup and hope for a bounce back in our next game. Stay strong, Pirates fans! We’ll get ‘em next time! ️Scoreboard for Pirates @ Cardinals (September 17th, 2024)
