A Promising Start
What a thrilling game we had at Chase Field today, though alas, it ended with our beloved Arizona Diamondbacks narrowly losing to the Padres, 3-2. After watching the early innings, I genuinely thought we had this one in the bag!
Corbin Carroll kicked off the scoring with a monster homer to center, 443 feet!
That meant we were in front right off the bat! 
And thanks to Alek Thomas's sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning, we managed to double our lead. It's always exciting when the Diamondbacks get a jumpstart like this with a solid 2-0.Defensive Gems and Holding on Tight
Kudos to our pitching crew for keeping the Padres at bay throughout the early innings. It seemed like every time the Padres threatened, our defense rose to the occasion! Javy Guerra (though not listed, our pitching hero) made sure to keep those Padres bats quiet for a solid stretch.
Ketel Marte was all over the field, making plays to shut down any early Padres’ momentum. But oh, the magic didn't quite last through the later stages, did it? The Padres' Xander Bogaerts hit a homer in the 7th, chipping away at our lead.
The Heartbreaking Finish
Hopes were high, even as Ryan O'Hearn clobbered one out of the park in the ninth, leveling the game at two apiece. And with the game on the knife-edge, Jose Iglesias took the forefront for the Padres with the decisive RBI, which left us on the back foot with little time remaining. The tension!
We gave it a valiant final push at bat in the 9th, but the magic just wasn't there for us today. Adrian Del Castillo came in as a pinch hitter and went down swinging to end our chance. So close and yet so far!
We’ll get them next time, Diamondbacks fans! Another day, another chance to rise and shine. Until the next matchup, stay strong and keep the faith!
