As a Padres fan, I must say, securing a win against the Rockies with a final score of 3-1 was sheer exhilaration. Let's dive into how our Padres grabbed that sweet victory.A Slow Start but a Strong Finish
The game kicked off with both teams locked in a tense stalemate, keeping the score at 0-0 for the initial innings. Our leadoff, Xander Bogaerts, managed a walk but was left stranded in the first. The Rockies had their moments, but we kept them at bay, thanks to some stellar pitching and tight defense. It wasn't until the 3rd inning that we broke the deadlock. Jose Azocar singled and later scored off Jurickson Profar's single, putting the Padres on the board!
Rockies Respond but Padres Retake the Lead
The Rockies didn't take long to respond, tying the game in the 4th inning. But, our boys weren't down for long. The highlight came in the 8th inning when Luis Campusano doubled, and then Tyler Wade, hitting for Eguy Rosario, singled to right, bringing Campusano home. Jackson Merrill then added more joy with a single that scored Wade, pushing us ahead to a 3-1 lead.
Padres Pitching Secures the Win
Our pitching was on point throughout the game, silencing the Rockies' bats when it mattered the most. The Rockies threatened in the bottom of the 9th with a double by Sean Bouchard, but Suarez shut down any hopes of a comeback by inducing a game-ending double play from Ryan McMahon.What a game!
