The Padres came out swinging in the top of the 1st, putting up an impressive four runs to set the tone for the game. It all started with Xander Bogaerts singling to left followed by a walk from Fernando Tatis Jr., setting the stage for a big inning. Ha-Seong Kim doubled to right, bringing in Bogaerts and Tatis Jr. for the first two runs. The momentum didn't stop there as Jackson Merrill hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Jurickson Profar, and Eguy Rosario singled to score Kim. After putting up a strong lead in the first, Padres pitching took center stage. Throughout the game, the Rockies were kept at bay thanks to some stellar defense and precise pitching. The Rockies managed to put up a run in the bottom of the 6th thanks to a homer from Ryan McMahon, and another in the 8th thanks to a homer by Elias Diaz. But that's all they would get as Padres pitchers kept the pressure on, making sure our lead was secure.Securing the Win
The Padres continued to apply pressure, adding an additional run in the 6th inning after a groundout from Merrill, allowing Profar to score due to an error by the Rockies' third baseman McMahon. Although the Rockies tried to rally in the late innings, the Padres defense and bullpen, including Matsui, Peralta, and Suarez, shutting down any chance of a comeback. The Padres showed great teamwork and resilience, a testament to the team's depth and determination.By the bottom of the 9th, the score was 5-2 in favor of the Padres. Suarez closed out the game, securing the victory with a strikeout to Hunter Goodman. This win was a team effort, with contributions from the plate, on the mound, and in the field.
