A Tough Day in the Bronx

Fellow Padres fans, today wasn't our day. The final score of 3-12 is a tough pill to swallow against the Yankees in the Bronx, but let's break it down inning by inning and see where things went awry. 😅

Solid Start, But the Yankees Roared Back

The game started off on a promising note in the top of the 4th inning when Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill both got on base. Thanks to a pitcher's mistake—a balk—we managed to score two runs. Jason Heyward also helped with a sacrifice fly to bring Merrill home, giving us a 2-0 lead. However, the Yankees responded in kind with an Aaron Judge home run in the bottom of the 4th inning and capitalized on a fielding error by our very own Fernando Tatis Jr. to tie it up 2-2. 🤦‍♂️

The 7th Inning Collapse

We managed to sneak ahead in the 7th inning when Fernando Tatis Jr. doubled, bringing in Gavin Sheets to make it 3-2. But things quickly took a turn for the worse when our bullpen couldn't hold the lead. The Yankees piled on an astounding 10 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Austin Wells put the nail in the coffin with a grand slam that turned the scoreboard upside down to a crushing 3-12. 😬

What’s Next?

We've got a lot to fix moving forward, especially when it comes to limiting errors and holding our composure late in the game. Today was a tough loss, no sugarcoating it. But let's regroup and look forward to the next opportunity to cheer our team back to victory. After all, every good fan knows the season is a marathon, not a sprint. Let's stay positive, and as always, Go Padres! 🌟
