Fiery 1st Inning Sets the Tone
What a start by our San Diego Padres! Right from the get-go, we showed the Athletics who's boss. After Fernando Tatis Jr. unfortunately flew out, Luis Arraez came in strong with a double to left. Then, it was Manny Machado’s turn to shine, sending Arraez home with a fantastic double to center. It was capped perfectly when Jake Cronenworth blasted a 395-feet homer bringing Machado along, putting us at a solid 3-0. The Athletics had a meek response, as our defense was on point with a smooth double play. Way to kick things off, Padres!
️Steady Through The Middle Innings
The excitement never waned! In the 3rd inning, Machado yet again made an impact with another magnificent double to center, bringing home Arraez once more which pushed the score to 4-0. The Athletics did have a response with Tyler Soderstrom getting a homer in the bottom of the 3rd, but not enough to shake our lead. Our Padres held strong through the next few innings with solid defense. The 4th inning saw the Athletics claw back with two runs, but our Padres didn't let them catch up entirely. We continued to hold them off with strong pitching and outfield play.
Victory Secured by Padres' Daring Moves
In the 7th inning, the man of the moment, Fernando Tatis Jr., dug in deep and sent a soaring 406-feet homer to left that added an essential insurance run. As the tension ramped with the Athletics adding another run through Soderstrom’s second homer, our nerves held firm. Andres Suarez came in to close it out in the 9th inning, showing no mercy as he retired the side three straight outs to seal a thrilling victory! Final score – Padres 5, Athletics 4. A fantastic display from the Padres, with stellar performances by Machado, Cronenworth, Tatis Jr., and everyone else. Go Padres!
