Overview: A Tough Battle in Seattle
Well, Padres fans, it was a heart-pounding game in Seattle as we faced off against the Mariners. The final score was a close 3-4, with the Mariners barely taking the win. Our boys fought hard, but it just wasn't our night. Here's a breakdown of how the game played out.Early Innings Struggle
The game opened with both teams trying to find their rhythm. In the top of the 1st, Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado couldn't quite get us started, as both grounded out. By the 2nd inning, we saw Xander Bogaerts make an impressive infield single, but unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize with runners in scoring position. The Mariners took their first lead with a run in the bottom of the 2nd, thanks to a double from Raley that brought Eugenio Suarez home. The Middle Game Rally
Despite being in the hole, our Padres showed resilience in the 6th inning! Ramon Laureano first got on base after being hit by a pitch, followed by Ryan O'Hearn singling and Gavin Sheets coming in clutch with an RBI—finally getting us on the board. A bit later, a hit by pitch with Jake Cronenworth up to bat brought another runner home, tightening the score to 2-4. It was great to see us clawing back, but the Mariners' defense held strong.Late Innings Comeback Attempt
Things got tense in the 9th inning. Jake Cronenworth smashed a double to left, putting us in business with a runner in scoring position. Fernando Tatis Jr. didn't disappoint, with a critical double bringing Cronenworth home and bringing the score within one run. Tatis even stole third to put more pressure on, but we just couldn't manage to bring him home.Final Thoughts
Despite the final score of 3-4, there were plenty of positive takeaways. Fernando Tatis Jr. showed great spark with two hits, an RBI, and a crucial steal. Our Padres showed tenacity and grit, which is what we love about them! Let's keep the faith, Padres nation; there's still a lot of baseball left to play! Onward to the next game!
