It was a promising start, but little did we know what was to come.Padres Fight Back
The Padres responded quickly in the second inning. A solo homer by Manny Machado and RBI singles from Luis Campusano and Luis Arraez swung the score in their favor, ending the inning at 4-2. Things looked grim, but the Cards remained undeterred.Goldschmidt Brings Hope
In the fifth inning, Paul Goldschmidt delivered a clutch two-run homer, scoring Lars Nootbaar and flipping the score in our favor, 5-4. The crowd in Busch Stadium erupted in cheers, and it felt like we had the momentum back. Sadly, this didn't last long.Late-Game Struggles
In the seventh inning, the Padres managed to score two more runs, stealing back the lead, 6-5. The Padres then added an insurance run in the ninth thanks to a wild pitch by O'Brien, making it 7-5.Disappointing Finish
In the final stretch, Nolan Arenado stepped in to pinch-hit for Lars Nootbaar, but unfortunately grounded out to third to end the game. Despite the loss, our boys showed grit and determination, and there's always hope for the next game.Chin up, Cards fans! Onwards and upwards!
