Tough Start for the D-backs
The Arizona Diamondbacks faced off against the San Francisco Giants in what turned out to be a challenging game for our team. Things got off to a rough start in the top of the first inning. The Giants got on the board quickly with Willy Adames and Rafael Devers drawing walks before Heliot Ramos doubled, bringing Adames home. A sacrifice fly by Jung Hoo Lee put another run on the board, making it 2-0 Giants right out of the gate. Unfortunately, our bats went quiet in the bottom of the inning as Ketel Marte, Geraldo Perdomo, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. were all quickly retired.
The Struggle Continues
By the third inning, the Giants extended their lead to 4-0, with Adames and Ramos crossing the plate again. An amazing display of pitching kept the Giants at bay during the next few innings, with D-backs pitchers retiring batters left and right. Finally, our guys made their presence felt at the bottom of the fifth inning. Eugenio Suárez sent a rocket to left field for a solo home run, putting us on the scoreboard and bringing some life back into the game for us.
Marte Dinger and a Bittersweet Ending
Heading into the seventh inning, we trailed 6-1, but Ketel Marte gave us something to cheer about in the bottom of the ninth. He smashed a towering home run over the left-field wall, reducing the deficit.
