Early Inning Action
The Braves faced a frustrating start in this showdown against the Giants. Despite several opportunities, it seemed like Lady Luck wasn't on our side during the first few innings. In the bottom of the first, Matt Olson and Sean Murphy both walked, and Ozzie Albies added another walk to load the bases. But, sadly, Michael Harris II couldn't make magic happen, leaving us scoreless. It was a tense few innings with both teams showing strong defenses and locking down any early runs.
Giants Strike First
The Giants came alive in the fifth inning when Rafael Devers got the momentum rolling with a solo homer. To add to it, Matt Chapman launched a two-run homer not long after. By the end of the top of the fifth, the Giants had a commanding 3-0 lead. The sixth inning wasn’t kinder to our Braves as Devers struck again with a three-run homer, putting us at 0-6. Despite coming in with high hopes, it was fast becoming a challenging game.
A Glimmer of Hope
But the Braves never give up! In the bottom of the seventh, Eli White started a rally with a single, leading to bases loaded. Drake Baldwin delivered with a ground rule double, bringing in two runs from White and Jurickson Profar. Next, Sean Murphy grounded out, but not before scoring Matt Olson, putting us on the board with a total of 3 runs. Although we tried our best and were resilient to chase them down, the scoreboard didn't move in our favor the rest of the match.
Final Thoughts
The game ended with a final score of 9-3 in favor of the Giants.
