First Inning Impressions

The game began with a lot of suspense but no immediate action. Brett Wisely, Heliot Ramos, and Patrick Bailey all struck out or grounded out for a quick top half. Our defense put in the work with a double play initiated by a flyout from Christopher Morel. Cubs' offense remained dormant at the end of the 1st inning.

Second and Third Inning Stalemate

Jorge Soler hit a ground rule double in the 2nd, but we couldn't capitalize. Both teams struggled offensively, with scattered singles but nothing else producing results. Thairo Estrada and Trenton Brooks showed promise in the 3rd, but we couldn't bring them home. The Cubs remained scoreless too.

Breaking the Ice

It wasn’t until the 4th that the score finally changed! Mike Yastrzemski tripled to right field, bringing Jorge Soler home. The Cubs began to threaten but our defense held strong. By the end of the 4th, the Giants were up 1-0. 💪

A Tight Race in the Fifth and Sixth

The Cubs stayed on our heels as they loaded bases and just missed tying it in the 5th thanks to a fantastic double play initiated by Yastrzemski. But the tide turned in the 6th inning with Michael Busch hitting a two-run homer. We ended the inning down 2-1.

Back and Forth Battle in the Seventh

Ramos sparked hope with a solo homer to tie the game in the top of the 7th. Thairo Estrada was hit by a pitch, bringing us to a 3-2 lead. But the Cubs retaliated with three more runs, leaving us trailing 6-3 at the bottom of the 7th. 😟

Hope in the Eighth

The 8th inning saw a spark from Patrick Bailey who hit a massive 433 feet homer, closing the gap to 6-4. Our defense stayed strong, keeping the Cubs from scoring further.

Nail-biting Ninth Inning

In the 9th, Thairo Estrada came through clutch with a three-run homer after Jorge Soler reached base on a catcher's interference and Yastrzemski walked. The Giants led 7-6. Our pitching was perfect with Camilo Doval closing it out, securing our nail-biting victory! 🧡⚾

Final Thoughts

What a rollercoaster of a game! From a tight pitching duel to an explosive back and forth. Our Giants showed their resilience, bouncing back in a big way. Go Giants! 🎉
