A Tough Extra-Inning Defeat at Wrigley Field

Hey Cubs fans! 😅 It was a rollercoaster of a game at Wrigley Field today as the Cubs faced off against the San Francisco Giants. Unfortunately, despite rallying late in the game, we couldn't hold on in extra innings, eventually falling 14-5.

Early Inning Struggles

The game got off to a rocky start for the Cubs. The Giants struck early in the 2nd inning, capitalizing on an error and a sacrifice fly to bring the score to 2-0. In the 3rd inning, Jung Hoo Lee hit a two-run homer to further the Giants' lead to 4-0. Our boys managed to cut into the lead, thanks to Miguel Amaya's two-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd, making it 4-2. By the 5th, it was looking tight again, with Dansby Swanson crossing the plate and consolidating the score at 5-3.

Late-Inning Comeback

In an exciting bottom of the 9th, Carson Kelly and Justin Turner showed their grit. Turner delivered a crucial RBI single and Kyle Tucker followed with an RBI single to magically tie the game at 5-5, sending the fans into a frenzy and the game into extra innings. 😃

Extra Innings Heartbreak

However, things unraveled in the 11th inning. The Giants' bats exploded with a series of singles and sacrifice plays, piling on 9 runs to eventually go up 14-5. Heliot Ramos and Patrick Bailey were particularly menacing during this stretch. Despite a valiant effort and hard-fought game, we just couldn't get back on top after the Giants' onslaught. The final stand in the bottom of the 11th saw us falling short, despite some spirited swings from Nicky Lopez and Ian Happ.

The game might not have gone our way, but let's stick together, Cubs fans! 🤗 Let's root for our team and hope they come back stronger in the next one! CUBS FOREVER! 🐻
