Disappointing Day in Denver
Well, Rockies fans, it wasn't the game we wanted to see at Coors Field today. The San Francisco Giants handed us a tough 8-2 loss.
Let's start from the top—the first inning began with Rafael Devers launching a homer 411 feet deep. Ouch! That set the tone, and even though Hunter Goodman, Mickey Moniak, and Tyler Freeman tried to answer back, we went down 1-2-3.

Chances Come and Go
Jordan Beck gave us a hint of hope with a double in the second inning, but unfortunately, Brenton Doyle and others couldn't capitalize. The strikes just kept coming with Kyle Karros and Yanquiel Fernández both striking out and ending the inning. The Giants stretched their lead in the third inning with a two-run homer by Drew Gilbert. Our Rockies showed some fight; Ezequiel Tovar and Doyle had some nice hits and worked their way around the bases in the sixth inning, letting us close the gap a little to 2-6 thanks to Karros and a Tovar-Fernández combo. But, by then, the damage seemed done.
Missed Opportunities
Throughout the game, Tyler Freeman was impressive with multiple singles. It looked as though we could build a comeback, but unfortunately, play after play got away from us. And, just when we thought there might be a rally in the works, Giants' Willy Adames cranked a homer in the seventh to extend their lead to 8-2.
In the end, Freeman and others tried swinging for a late-game rally, but the Giants' defense drew up double plays faster than you could cheer. Bummer. Our bats might have had fuel, but their gloves? They were on fire.

Onward and upward, Rockies faithful! We'll get 'em next time.
